Description
We’ve long been enamoured by the sound of the aluminium neck TB-1000 Travis Bean® guitars with their extra sustain and bright tone. Part of their sound is the use of oversize alnico slug pole humbuckers with a steel base plate fixed to the aluminium spine. They purportedly used the same bobbins as the Fender® Wide range humbucker substituting A5 slugs for the CuNiFe but retaining the same larger dimensions. This pickup goes someway to reproducing that with high wind coils, A5 poles and a mild steel plate sitting under the two bobbins to concentrate the magnetic field inside the coils. Supplied with a closed nickel silver cover available in raw or polished nickel to complete the look.
This humbucker is in the larger Fender® wide range size with four mounting screws and will not fit in a standard humbucker route. If you would like a standard humbucker size version please see: TB-SHB Travis Bean® style humbucker in standard HB size.
Average DCR of around 12k in the neck and 13k in the bridge.
